High Rock Lake Recreational Activities

January 13, 2019 by Christina Rogers

Named after the tallest mountain in the Uwharrie Mountains, High Rock Lake is the second largest lake in North Carolina, with 365 miles of shoreline and 15,180 acres of land. It’s an excellent place to have outdoor fun and enjoy a host of exciting activities. You’ll find something for everyone in the family here!

High Rock Lake Boat Rentals & Water Activities

High Rock Lake is a popular recreational lake offering many water activities and beaches to explore. The lake itself is relatively shallow and offers swimming, jet skiing, water skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding, along with ample opportunities for sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and powerboating. It features 18 boat launches and three marinas, including the High Rock Lake Marina and Campground. Bring an RV or rent a cabin, go to the pool or snack bar, fish at the piers, rent a boat, or simply enjoy the easily-accessible water activities here.

High Rock Lake Fishing

Fishing is truly a passion here for locals and visitors alike. Considered to be one of the best fishing lakes in all of North Carolina, High Rock Lake has hosted several prestigious Bassmaster Tournaments and is consistently the site of multiple angling competitions. It is well-known for the incredible quality and quantity of largemouth bass it produces, and is also popular for catching bounties of crappie, as well as striped bass – known to fisherman as stripers – bluegill, and both channel and flathead catfish.

The High Rock Lake Association is committed to improving and nurturing the area by representing both property owners and recreational users of the lake. Chartered in 1954 “to foster and promote the welfare of High Rock Lake and the Yadkin River,” the HRLA has made a name for itself nationally by protecting the health and well-being of the lake and its surrounding communities.

High Rock Lake also offers a variety of wonderful eateries,(LINK TO BLOG) as well as wineries and vineyards(LINK TO BLOG) to enjoy. If you’re considering a move to this incredible area, feel free to stop by our High Rock Lake Real Estate Office to learn more about this wonderful, welcoming community.
