There is an incredible range of outdoor activities available in and around High Rock Lake, including mountain biking and hiking trails at one of North Carolina’s great parks. Named for Daniel Boone, the famed pioneer outdoorsman, Boone’s Cave Park ssas 110 acres near Lexington, NC. It features six miles of hiking trails, as well as plentiful fishing and camping.
The High Rock Lake area is also home to several historical attractions including the Davidson County Historical Museum, Salisbury National Cemetery, the North Carolina Transportation Museum, and the North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

When you’re visiting the High Rock Lake area, make sure to stop by one of the many notable North Carolina wineries and vineyards. Wine tasting is a great way to spend an hour – or an afternoon –enjoying the temperate North Carolina climate.
Cabo Winery
With delightful dessert wines and names like Mistletoe Merlot, you’re sure to have an enchanting time at Cabo Winery. Dry wine lovers, don’t despair! There are plenty of drier options as well, with selections that are full-bodied or light. Their wine tasting offers up to ten choices, while their inventory provides as many as 35 wines to choose from. Everyone just raves about the welcoming, intimate atmosphere and friendly staff!
Weathervane Winery
With a popular selection of seasonal wines including Pomegranate, Green Apple Dew, and Strawberry, Weathervane Winery is a popular local favorite. You can choose a tasting of seven dry or sweet selections to fit your personal palate, or select one of their wine and cheese pairings. They also offer a busy schedule of events in season, so be sure to check out theirevent calendar when you’re planning to be in the area!
Morgan Ridge Vineyards & Brewhouse
Enjoy a delightful vineyard tour and a delicious wine tasting, or go all out and try their new craft beers, too. They usually offer a cheese plate, and on occasion lunch or dinner can also be purchased for a very reasonable fee. Their wine selections include, red, white, fruit and off-dry wines. You can choose 5, 10 or a full tasting of all their wines, served in Riedel stemware. Craft beer flights are also available for a very reasonable price. Enjoy!
Junius Lindsay Vineyard
Located in Lexington, Junius Lindsay Vineyard began as a family farm and has quickly become a successful winery. Their acclaimed French-style wines are made with only grape varietals that are native to the Rhône Valley region of Southern France. Selections include whites, reds, desert wines, and some other very unique selections. Their open-air tasting room makes for a lovely, full-sensory experience!
Cauble Creek Vineyard
For a slightly different wine tasting experience, Cauble Creek Vineyard is well worth your time. Known for their knowledgeable staff and unique Muscadine wine selections, this relatively new winery shows some real promise. They offer a number of different red and white wine options, and also have a number of gourmet food selections other gift items available for purchase.
Zimmerman Vineyards
Offering a relaxed and scenic setting, a visit to Zimmerman Vineyards is well worth the drive. With reds, whites, sweet wines, and premium selections, you’ll find their various vintages are a pleasure to taste, and the views may well encourage you to linger over a glass while sitting on the flagstone terrace. Their lineup of vineyard events includes live jazz, bluegrass, and classical music to listen to while you enjoy a tasting – or a full bottle!
