Working w/Real Estate Agents

January 16, 2019 by Christina Rogers

Whether you’re buying or selling a property, it’s crucial that you have a real estate agent represent you because they help you in many ways. Also called REALTORS, real estate agents are licensed to serve buyers, sellers, or both.
It’s advisable to work with a well-established real estate firm to help you sell a property successfully. To benefit from the firm’s services, you will need to sign a “listing agreement.” The agreement authorizes the real estate firm and its agents to act on your behalf in dealings with buyers.
Similarly, it’s wise to hire an agent to assist you in buying real estate property. A buyer’s agent helps you make sense of the numerous options available in the market. You also have the option of hiring a real estate agent that represents both the buyer and the seller.
Find out what an agent’s previous clients have to say about working with them. Make sure the agent you’re considering has experience selling properties similar to yours concerning location and price among other features.
Using a real estate agent that has a license and credentials is crucial. A well-established agent should not have a history of disciplinary action taken against them.
Assess prospective agents’ knowledge of the area in which you’re interested in buying property. A strong understanding of the property market in the area increases your chances of getting the most suitable property.
In addition to experience, qualifications, and knowledge of the area give preference to agents that you have a good rapport with. You will spend much time with them, so they need to be a good fit. For that reason, the agent should be relatable, affable, and a good negotiator.
